wow, deja vu! one of the rubbishy old hammer horror knock-offs from the sixties is on the telly now, you know the ones where there's a bunch of dodgy horror short stories connected by some half-arsed theme (like passengers on a train, or exhibits in museum, or inmates in a mental asylum). each story usually involves some selfish person who does something bad, and ends up dying in a horrid way. but the story just gone featured a guy leaving his wife and kids and then dying in a carcrash and being sent to hell. which was the exact same plot as that dire ghost story thing written by tim minear last night! except in the minear one it was a woman leaving her husband. i mean, i know it's one of the commandments and everything, but does anyone really believe that people who cheat on their partners get sent to hell for it? or even deserve to? i mean, sure it's a bad thing to do, but.. hell? an infinity of torture because you decided you didn't really like the person you're married to anymore? sent to the same place as all the serial killers and people who ran concentration camps? i mean, if you did commit adultery you might as well then go on a killing spree seeing as you're doomed anyway.

speaking of infinite torture, i'm probably going to a meeting about basement music, the indie thing at the crypt, at the uni campus tomorrow, where i expect to feel uncomfortable and old. ah well. i do like the crypt and if i can pitch in a bit to helping it carry on then i'm up for it, if i can overcome my usual laziness.

before the dodgy horror film came on i watched an ace documentary called "desperately seeking agharti". it was about three mental italian guys who'd set off to mongolia to try and find the hidden entrance to a magical world under the earth. no, really. they basically spent a couple of weeks wandering around this massive country trying to find a lake that got mentioned in a book a century ago by some dude who claimed he'd gone into agharti. they ended up appearing on mongolian telly and even meeting the prime minister. apparently mongolia used to a communist country but the government decided they'd become democratic and hold elections for the first time. so the mongolians voted the communists back in! maybe duffy should move there.

hmm, it just occured to me - the shit film is called "tales of the crypt", and i'm going to a meeting about the crypt tomorrow, and i'm wittering on about some documentary i saw that involved people looking for underground places... it's like i've got some sort of exciting theme for today's post! blimey

maybe i should go to bed
