Well all that fascinating talk before about TV shows reminded me that I watched the (unaired) pilot of Global Frequency the week before with Waldo. It was okay... I kind of liked it and could see potential. Of course the GF comic was set up just like a tv show, with that whole synidcated-series-of-self-contained-self-explanatory-stories vibe. Like the classic Glen Larson shows of old where you didn't need to have watched any previous episodes to understand everything about the central characters and what they were up to. The thing was though... the central characters. What the fuck were they doing there? There was this obvious intention to have the attractive and crushingly predictable pair, complete with sexual tension and intuition-versus-logic methods, as the main characters to appear in each episode, with Mirando Zero and Aleph hovering around in the background. Which kind of ignores the whole concept of a global organisation set up to deal with immediate crises by getting help from nearby agents. I guess the people adapting chickened out of having a show with a cast that changed 90% every episode. Bah. Still, over all it had good bits, the shameless Matrix rip-off sequence wasn't too cringe-making, and the Ellis-copyrighted pseudoscience was fun, so it's a shame that it didn't get picked up for a series.

Meanwhile in the real world it was Neil's birthday yesterday, so I hope he had superfun. This weekend I'd been bullied into going camping but that's been tragically called off. I might go to the free Preston bands concert thing in Avenham Park instead, but I probably won't as, well, you know, most of the bands suck.

PS Pretty pictures of terrible things
